I am 16 years old, golfing with my brother at 7 pm. My Dad was watching. I hit a solid 6 iron to the left of a sloping left to right green. The ball hit the side hill, rolled across the green and in the hole.

  • Glen Erickson of Kelowna, ,

Achieved a hole-in-ones on 2008-06-22 @ SHANNON LAKE PUBLIC GOLF COURSE (Kelowna) located in Westbank, BC, Canada

    Hole: 2 | Length: 136 | Club Used: 9-Iron

At the first green, my playing partner was laughing about his friend's shot on hole #2 (a par-3) the day before, where he'd hit his tee shot off a tree that was out of bounds. The ball bounced back in play, on to the green and wound up a foot from the hole.

Apparently, the gentleman who hit this shot had another friend who had hit the same tree some years earlier and his golf ball wound up in the hole for an ace.

I commented that if I ever make an ace, "I just hope it doesn't bounce in off a rake".

A couple minutes later, I hit a good shot, saw it bounce on the green and I figured it went in. Of course, our wives were busy chatting, so they didn't see the ball go in. It was very sunny and we weren't sure where the ball was. My friend laughed and said, "well at least it didn't hit a rake".

As we walked off the tee, we saw what looked like a golf ball on the back fringe, right behind the pin. I said, "geez, I really thought that went in."

When we arrived at the green, we found the object on the back fringe was actually a leaf. I had my wedge and putter in my hand, fully expecting to hit a chip shot. My wife walked over to the hole and yelled, "oh my gawd!"

So, that's it...my first ace ever. It only took 36 years! Made it with a Ben Hogan FTX 9-iron and a Bridgestone B330S golf ball!

  • Kevin Wong of Port Moody, , Canada

Achieved a hole-in-ones on 2008-06-22 @ CENTRAL PARK PITCH AND PUTT GOLF located in Burnaby, BC, Canada

    Hole: 12 | Length: 105 | Club Used: 8-Iron

It was about 9pm, a group of 6 players had caught up to us and were waiting for me to tee off on the 12th hole (105 yards out).

I pulled out my 8-iron and just tapped but I felt i hit it way too hard and was going past the pin. It was soaring very high and straight with a slight cut as it was starting to land. It plopped down and thats when i lost sight. I thought it had rolled in behind and had my wedge out. The large group were hollering about a hole in one but they seemed slightly intoxicated

The couple playing in front of us had witnessed the ball dropping into the hole and a man ran out onto the green offering to sign my scorecard for verification. That's when I realized that I had achieved a golfers dream shot of a lifetime. Unfortunately, my friend and I don't keep score and had nothing for anyone to sign.
